Abraham Bosse was born in 1602 or 1604,
and was the son of a Protestant tailor originally from Germany
and who had immigrated to Tours. He was apprenticed in Paris
to Melchior II Tavernier, a native of Antwerp and who was one
of the most important print and illustrated book publishers
of the early XVIIth century. |
