World of Warcraft is a massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG), released in 2004 to huge success, rapidly attracting over 12 million players. Its universe has many references to Norse myths, as in this illustration of the "boss" Ragnaros that players confront. His name refers to Ragnarökr, the battle at the end of time that pits gods against all kinds of giants and monsters, and which would lead to the death of the main protagonists of the Norse pantheon. At the end of the battle, Yggdrasil, the world tree, would burn and then be swallowed up. Later, the world will emerge again, and the children of the gods would return to another golden age.
