The paths of the Pre-Raphaelite brotherhood regularly cross that of the Arts & Crafts movement which seeks, in line with the writings of John Ruskin, to create a modern-day equivalent of the artisanal work directly inspired by the Middle Ages that its members compared unfavorably to contemporary industrial production. The aim was also to show that the work of craftsmen has an artistic dimension and that the working classes can produce masterpieces. These neo-gothic-style stained glass windows were produced by the company co-founded by William Morris, with the help of Dante Gabriel Rossetti.
