The Goncourt brothers dithered over appearing in Nadar's Pantheon. After much procrastination, they gave in to the temptation to be included. This rare and lovely double portrait dates back to the period when, in order to be "Pantheonized," they spent time with the Tournachon brothers, who were working together at the time.
