As early as 1855, Adrien was specializing in animal photography. He reproduced his images of farm animals - goats, merinos sheep, cattle, horses and more - for farm shows and in luxurious photo albums. This series was taken at the 1856 World's Agricultural Fair. Out of 120 shots, 50 were used for Emile Baudement's book, Cattle Breeds at the 1856 World's Agricultural Fair in Paris: Zootechnical Studies, published in 1861.
