Focus on the Workplace

The evolution of the organization of the workplace and of professional practices is one of the themes attracting the attention of photographers. Shadow theater scenes by Vincent Debanne, muted spaces where the next act of the information economy is unfolding or places of tragedy by Samuel Bollendorff—these images document the profound transformations of the economic and social landscape. Today as yesterday, gestures repeat and the rhythm of rows of shelves echoes the ballet of the photocopy machine with Julien Benard. But even when bodies, like individuals, seem to vanish in the office space, they return to the forefront in the work of Charles Fréger, Despatin & Gobeli, and Valérie Couteron.
