In 1853, at the Bonne Nouvelle Theatre, Mademoiselle Hamély launched a career in pantomime and tableaux vivants. She also posed nude for Félix Moulin and Eugène Durieu, who were putting together a catalogue of models for Eugène Delacroix. Adrien Tournachon's portrait shows great sensitivity, with the lace and nosegay adding romance to the model's come-hither gaze.
