Two Representations of the Dragon Slain by Saint Michael

How did fantasy writers combine the two influences, Eastern and Western? One solution is to make them cohabit within the same world: in Dungeons & Dragons, a key reference, there is a multitude of dragons, some benign, others evil. The creature can remain ambivalent, both fearsome and fascinating, as the Hogwarts motto reminds us (never tickle a sleeping dragon!).
