All the monuments portrayed in these photographs seem to be calling out for preservation. Half buried in the Egyptian desert sands, smothered by American cacti or yuccas, under siege by the Indochinese forest, they are the threatened witnesses that an open-minded and intelligent protectorate takes into account as representative of major civilisations.
