The Greeks worked out a system of representation of the world and laid the foundations of cartography. Around 650 BC, Thales of Milletus had already imagined the Earth’s roundness, fact that Aristotle will confirm a few centuries later, supporting his conclusion on the fact that boats progressively disappeared beyond the horizon, as if drawn into the sea.
